Bonington Gallery

Above are the pictures that I have taken from the latest exhibition in the Bonington Gallery titled C/J by Chloé Maratta & Joanne Roberson (5 April – 18 May 2019). This collection of garments that was exhibited showed a variety of details on a single mannequin and that is really interesting, in my opinion. Maratta gathered those items on display through her every day encounters and experiences. The paintings are by Robertson, and her interpretation of the garments displaying through abstract art.

I feel like the fact that I could capture so many elements on a single mannequin shows that she pays attention to detail and that is something that I would like to implement to my works. I would like everything that is on the design to have a particular meaning or at least, there for a reason and not just placed there just because it looks good. Having said that, it definitely has to look good too.
