Making Process

I started off with using 15mm knitting needle to get the effect of the texture of the knit that I want. Then, I started to explore different materials and the ways that I can use the yarn. My classmate, Minsu, came up with a very interesting technique of knitting sliced up organza. I was using mesh but the effect looked almost the same if organza is used.

Slicing up the mesh to knit as shown in picture.
The sliced up mesh also looked very interesting if you just put them together like a ball.
Using a 20mm needle and 15mm needle to see the difference. Picture shown above is the effect of a 20mm knitting needle.
Initial idea with the boning to create the shape of the vaults from gothic cathedrals. The calico shows the shape of the knits that would be forming into.
First attempt in making the top was awful, it was way too small so I had to cut it open to fit on the mannequin.
Although the piece was too small, it is actually looking great as an accessory piece like a scarf or something.
Putting my chunky knits and mesh on the mannequin.
Using the sewing machine to stitch the yarn together on the soluble fabric.
Soaking it in water to get the soluble fabric out.
Second attempt in making the top: success but.. it was too big. Having said that, too big is better than too small, so I just had to do some adjustments to fit the model and the mannequin like fasting it with the thinner craft wire or adding something fancy.
Possible ways to use the embroidery piece.
Putting the 4 pieces of knits together without the structure on the piece (before I stitched the panels together, it was a separate piece like that)
At this point, I have decided to get rid of the boning because it is actually really hard to make it stay so I thought that I could just make the strips of mesh crushed together to create that same look, just not as sturdy as the initial look that the boning would create.
Getting the idea of elastic waistband for easy wear.
Stitching the thick metal craft wire to the boning after stitching the mesh on the knits that I have tied together. When stitching the craft wire, the thread completely concealed it which turned out to look pretty decent.
